Happy New Year | 2017 Art Update
I suppose I should start off by wishing my readers a Happy New Year! I hope you have a happy and healthy 2017.
It’s been a busy time in the art studio for me, especially over the Christmas period with several of you needing some custom art supplied in time for the big day! So, I’ve been shut away working on several whimsical pieces of pets and children that are now happily hanging on the walls of their new homes! I was even asked to draw a duck in my ‘old ‘style using graphite– something that I rarely do these days, but it made for a nice change – and believe it or not, the more realistic type drawings / paintings are actually a lot quicker to complete than those of the more simplistic appearance in the Children’s Book style, proving that sometimes, with art, the most difficult and time consuming thing is trying to keep things ‘simple.’
I was also lucky enough to be asked by S.C.B.W.I if they could use one of my recent paintings to promote one of their many events covering Children’s Books and Illustrators – you can find them on Facebook here – well worth a look!
What’s next in 2017?
That’s a good question and one that I don’t quite know myself yet…. I have several new commissions that I’ve been asked to work on and hopefully a few other projects in the coming months – but I’m also house-hunting for somewhere that I combine with a new studio, so it’s going to be a busy year!
As always, if you enjoy my work, please visit my social media channels where I still aim to add a new picture most days!
