If there is another season and holiday that I love as much as autumn and Hallowe’en, it has to be the cold months of winter and the magical lead up to Christmas. Children’s book illustrations in both of these themes are great fun – there’s lots of colour to play with, lots of details in the seasonal ornaments, and wonderful shadows to experiment with on snow and ice.

I remember one of my first Christmas memories that relate to Children’s book illustration was that of the first airing of ‘The Snowman’ by Raymond Briggs – a fantastic artist! Although The Snowman was created with use of coloured pencils, I tend to use watercolours, but I have recently begun to experiment with more coloured pencil work and hope to add some of these to this gallery soon.
