Kris resides in the British Isles and he has a deep interest in the natural world – something that he has studied since a very early age. He holds qualifications in many outdoor interests, including a degree in environmental science and nature-based studies. He is a former teacher of ethnobotany, wilderness living skills, forest school education, bushcraft and has taught both special forces and documentary film makers how to live comfortably from the land.
It is this interest in our natural world that first sparked Kris’s curiosity in drawing and painting the wildlife that can be found around us. His unique and relaxed whimsical style has become a firm favourite of both children and adults alike.
Kris has written and illustrated his own children's books - the first, titled 'Hornbeam Hollow: The Hunt for the Halloween Pumpkin' was published in 2019, and a follow-up in the series in 2020. In addition to his own books, Kris has illustrated several other books and has written many articles for various magazines - Kris was also a member of the 'ask the experts' panel in a well-known food magazine where he answered readers questions on foraging!
In addition to writing and illustrating books, Kris runs his own companies, owns and manages several brand names and volunteers for outdoor charities (when time permits). He is currently working on the third book in the Hornbeam Hollow series, as well as a non-fiction book delving into the 'paranormal'.
During his exceptionally rare 'free' time, Kris may be found out in the woods observing wildlife with his family, fishing from his boat, hunting for long-lost treasures with his metal detector, collecting original illustrations, or adding to his cabinet of 'curiosities'.
If you'd like Kris to work alongside you on your project, or if you are a publishing house looking to add a new illustrator to your team, please feel free to get in touch.
